My name is Vitas Maleš.

I have spent more than 25 years in football as a goalkeeper, mentor, coach, university lecturer, and senior executive. The game has taken me deep inside elite football environments working closely with professional clubs, head coaches, technical staff, executives, and boards at the highest levels.

​

Football has also shaped my life beyond the pitch. It has allowed me to live and work across 3 continents, become fluent in 6 languages, and operate comfortably across cultures, systems, and footballing ideologies. Throughout my career, I have held roles including scout, Head of Scouting, club ambassador, and advisor to boards of directors. Yet my true expertise and my greatest impact lies in a role I have helped define: High Performance Goalkeeper Manager.

Today, I serve as 1st team NPL & Senior Academy Goalkeeper Coach at Sydney FC, Australia’s most successful A-League club. I am also the Goalkeeper Academy Director at APIA Leichhardt, Rydalmere Lions FC and the Head of Program at the Australian Goalkeeper Centre of Excellence.

Between 2015 and 2023, I was 1st Team Goalkeeper Coach and Goalkeeper Academy Director at Sydney United. During this period, we built what became Asia-Pacific’s most successful goalkeeper development program for 4 consecutive years (2019–2022) achieved entirely within a 2nd tier club environment.

The outcomes speak for themselves:

​

• 2 goalkeepers signed professional contracts in the English Premier League and Championship

• 5 graduates moved to top or second-tier European clubs

• 8 goalkeepers represented their national teams across multiple age groups​.

​

These results are unprecedented. No 2nd tier setup anywhere in the world has produced comparable outcomes at this scale, over this time frame.
